Sils i.D.
Once a ruin - now a youth hostel for groups. With a breathtaking view of the Domleschg.
Zillis-Reischen
Haselstein has served as a cultural castle for the Schams region and as a basis for castle preservation in Graubünden since 1983.
Rothenbrunnen
Innerjuvalt Castle (often referred to as Oberjuvalt) rises majestically high above the southern end of the village of Rothenbrunnen on a rocky outcrop.
Thusis
Living with a view - only for those with a head for heights: The rock on which Obertagstein Castle stands drops vertically on all sides.
Sils i.D.
Neither a fortress nor a noble castle. What is it then? Hoher Rätien has been a mystery for centuries. Situated on an imposing rock above the entrance to the Viamala Gorge, it is one of the oldest settlements still in use in Switzerland - an extraordinary cultural asset in Graubünden with an eventful history of over 4000 years.
Paspels
The ruins of the four-storey residential tower are a striking eye-catcher and a landmark of Paspels.
Clugin
Striking ruined tower between Clugin and Andeer, on a rocky spur on the left side of the Schams valley.
Sils i.D.
A ruin worth seeing on a rocky spur high above the Albula at the entrance to the Schin Gorge.
Precise
Ruins of a once extensive castle complex on a rocky hill below Präz.
Zillis-Reischen
The Tur castle ruins above Reischen are just a rifle shot away from Haselstein Castle. Inside the tower there is a rest area with a fireplace, seating and a fountain.
Paspels
A rarity in the valley of castles and palaces: the Neu Sins castle ruins are the only round tower far and wide.
Splügen
The castle ruins to the east of Splügen are the only castle complex in the valley.
Rothenbrunnen
The gateway to the Graubünden passes: The former dam was used to control transit traffic. And today it offers an opportunity to take a break. The PORTA RHAETICA is not accessible to unauthorized persons, but can be hired directly from the tenant Jaeger Getränke in Thusis for events for up to 50 people.
Pratval
Built in the 13th century - destroyed during the Schams feud in 1415: an inconspicuous ruin on the edge of Pratval.
Rothenbrunnen
Castle site with a distant view: only the western corner of the once five-storey tower still rises into the sky on a rock in the middle of the valley near Rothenbrunnen.
Sils i.D.
A "bold and daring" castle on the steep banks of the Albula: Baldenstein Castle in Sils i.D. has a long and eventful history.
Tomils
The largest castle complex in the valley of castles and palaces: the stately Ortenstein Castle below Tomils towers majestically over the Domleschg.
Pratval
A stately building with an eventful history: In February 1621, Pompejus Planta was murdered by Jörg Jenatsch at Rietberg Castle.
Fürstenau
A place of history and good food: Schauenstein Castle is now a culinary stronghold thanks to 19-Gault-Millau-point chef Andreas Caminada.
Paspels
A castle with a changing face: Sins Castle in Paspels is just over 300 years old.
Masein
Tagstein Castle, which was rebuilt in its present form after a fire in 1899, probably dates back to the 12-13th century and goes back to the lords of Masein/Rialt.
Mathon
St. Anthony's Church was built around 1200 and is probably a successor to the "ecclesia in Mentaune", which was consecrated to St. Martin and mentioned as early as 831.
