Localities

Rongellen
The northernmost settlement in the Schams. Rongellen has always been the only German-speaking village in the valley. However, it is unclear whether this can be traced back to a Walser past.
Zillis
The municipality at the southern entrance to the Viamala Gorge is made up of the two districts of Zillis and Reischen.
Donat
Donat lies at the foot of the Schamserberg at 1,043 m above sea level and belongs to the political municipality of Muntogna da Schons.
Wages
Lohn is located on the Schamserberg at 1,585 m above sea level and belongs to the political municipality of Muntogna da Schons. The village is dominated by the reformed church with its two steeples.
Mathon
Mathon lies on the Schamserberg at 1,521 meters above sea level and belongs to the political municipality of Muntogna da Schons. The birthplace of the famous composer Tumasch Dolf is located here.
Casti-Wergenstein
Casti-Wergenstein on the Schamserberg is made up of the two districts of Casti (1,125 m above sea level and Wergenstein 1,489 m above sea level). It belongs to the political municipality of Muntogna da Schons.
Clugin
Clugin has been part of the municipality of Andeer since the municipal merger on January 1, 2009. The village lies on the left side of the valley at 1,013 m above sea level.
Pignia
Pignia has been part of the municipality of Andeer since the municipal merger on January 1, 2009. The village lies on the right side of the valley at 1,054 m above sea level.
Andeer
Andeer is the center and seaside resort of Schams and comprises the districts of Andeer, Pignia and Clugin. It lies at 983 m above sea level and has around 930 inhabitants.

The Capricorn exhibition at the Center da Capricorns in Wergenstein provides exciting and interesting facts about the king of the Alps. The ibex has been back in the area of the nature park for 60 years and the colony numbers over 300 animals.

Since summer 1993, the permanent exhibition on the world-famous Romanesque picture ceiling of St. Martin's Church has been located on the main street in Zillis (a 5-minute walk from the church). It is worth visiting the exhibition first and then the church.
