La Tur castle ruins

La Tur castle ruins
The Tur castle ruins above Reischen are just a rifle shot away from Haselstein Castle. Inside the tower there is a rest area with a fireplace, seating and a fountain.

Tur, the older of the two castles, was abandoned by Heinrich von Reischen as early as 1273 and the tower was left in ruins for over seven hundred years. When the breach on the gorge side widened further in the winter of 2001, the entire northern half of the castle could be expected to collapse at any time.

In addition to the upkeep of Haselstein Castle, the Instution Pro Castellis has taken on another task with the preservation of Tur Castle.

In 2009, the permanently secured ruins were handed over to the municipality. Part of the safeguarding included making it accessible to the public: you can sit comfortably around the fire in the mighty iron sculpture "Torre in torre" in the paved interior of the tower, Reischen spring water flows from the fountain and an information board tells the story of the castle and the lords of Reischen. The ruins are located on the viaSpluga cultural and long-distance hiking trail.
