Alt Sins castle ruins

The castle, which was probably built at the end of the 12th century, was originally the seat of a small manor that grew out of the Paspels estate and appears in the possession of the Lords of Vaz in the 13th century. The castle itself is first mentioned in documents in 1285. After the Vaz family died out in the male line, it passed with the lordship to the Werdenberg-Sargans family.
Alt-Süns was demolished during the Schams feud in 1451 and subsequently rebuilt; however, it was probably already in ruins at the beginning of the 16th century. Today, the ruins of a four-storey residential tower with a ring still stand. The entrance was on the second floor, the bays are on the third and fourth floors.
