"Viamala Notte" Night Event
The Viamala Gorge reveals its mysterious side: During the Viamala Notte, Erwin Dirnberger guides visitors through the terrifyingly beautiful chasm with stories, dramatic reenactments, and lantern light. An atmospheric evening in a unique setting.
An evening event with a special atmosphere
When darkness falls over the Viamala Gorge, this terrifyingly beautiful chasm reveals a whole new side of itself. By the light of the lanterns, the gorge becomes a stage for stories, characters, and impressions spanning some 2,000 years of travel history.
History Comes to Life
Roman generals, medieval pilgrims, peasant packhorsemen, Romantic artists, or modern travelers: For centuries, people have been recounting their unforgettable experiences in the Viamala Gorge.
At the Viamala Notte, Erwin Dirnberger brings many of these characters back to life in the open-air theater space of the visitor center. He then guides the audience down into the gorge at night, using original quotes and songs. The result is an atmospheric experience that uniquely blends history, nature, and theater.
