Guided tour of the small chapel in Dusch, featuring frescoes by the Waltensburg Master and a wonderful view of the Domleschg valley. Registration required by 5:00 p.m. the day before.

Perched slightly above the hamlet of Dusch stands the Chapel of St. Mary Magdalene. As visitors make their way up, they are greeted by a large statue of St. Christopher by the Waltensburg Master. Inside, the same workshop has depicted the life story of Mary Magdalene in a series of paintings; thanks to the lighting conditions, these works are brought to life in a particularly striking, medieval-style manner. In front of the chapel, we enjoy the view of the Domleschg valley and the Heinzenberg.
Cultural and church guide Sidonia Kasper is well-versed in the architectural history and the chapel’s paintings and has plenty of anecdotes to share.

Travel by PostBus to Paspels village, then walk about 20 minutes to Dusch. Parking is available next to the Olgiati schoolhouse in Paspels; the walk takes about 10 minutes. Visitors with limited mobility can park at the third bend on the road to Tomils and walk along the Alte Transerstrasse at ground level to the Dusch Chapel. It’s a beautiful hiking trail, about 20 minutes long.
