This is the source of the Hinterrhein, one of the most important headwaters of the Rhine, which connects millions of people over 1200 kilometers.
The secrets of the Rhine and its water can be experienced on the 4.5-kilometre-long Rhine Spring Trail between the villages of Hinterrhein and Nufenen. Two further 4.5-kilometre sections of the Rhine Spring Trail reveal the exciting transit history of the valley.
And you can easily discover all the picturesque villages of the Rheinwald. Information about the villages of Hinterrhein, Nufenen, Medels, Splügen and Sufers is available in and at selected fountains.
