Wax on fabric, plaster in sand, pencil on paper: At the Lilly Keller Atelier, Lucerne-based artist Flavia Bienz explores forms, experiments with materials, and creates spaces for reflection. After a period of traveling, researching, and observing, she builds on initial concepts, translates ideas into new forms, and continually questions her own artistic practice. Flavia Bienz sifts through her archive of ideas and images, seeking to distill something new from them. She poses questions such as: What holds us together? What does it mean when things and actions are explored and developed out of a desire for togetherness? At the Open Studio, Flavia Bienz discusses these themes, showcases her experiments, and offers insight into her creative process.
Flavia Bienz (1993, Lucerne) studied textile design (2017) at HSLU DKF and Trends & Identity (2021) at ZHdK. She is the initiator of participatory events and a multidisciplinary designer at the intersection of art and design. In her current projects, she explores questions of coexistence, delves into the language of textiles, and consistently finds herself drawn to experimentation. She currently lives and works in the Appenzell region (Trogen), where she served as co-director at the Alpenhof Oberegg from 2022 to 2024. Since 2025, she has been responsible, among other things, for the residency program at the Andreas Züst Library and is part of the collective leadership of Visarte Ost.www.flaviabienz.ch
