"Okto plus Friends: A Surprise Concert—From Duo to Nonet." When nine outstanding musicians from the Ensemble Oktoplus take the stage and are joined by friends, the result is an evening full of chamber music discoveries: a concert that ranges from an intimate duo to a festive nonet. Under the motto "Okto plus Friends," the ensemble continues a tradition that has already delighted audiences at the Domleschg Summer Concerts on numerous occasions: flexible lineups, unexpected combinations of works, and programmatic twists make every evening of this format unique—sometimes deeply intimate in its chamber music approach, sometimes virtuosic and orchestral in scope. It is precisely this versatility that is the hallmark of Oktoplus, which has its roots in the famous Schubert Octet and has since repeatedly brought unknown and rarely heard works to light.
The renowned musicians bring all their experience and joy of playing to bear as they transform the stage of the Aula Thusis into a vibrant sound laboratory in a wide variety of formations. The intimate, focused atmosphere of the hall allows the audience to experience every detail of the performance: the chamber-music-like breathing, the attentive listening among the musicians, and those spontaneous moments when music sparks that proverbial connection.
Anyone familiar with the Domleschg Summer Concerts knows: the term “surprise concert” is no riddle, but rather an evening where curiosity pays off and the audience is rewarded with a wealth of discoveries. An ideal start to the final festival weekend—and a rare opportunity to experience the Oktoplus ensemble across its full chamber music spectrum.
