36th World Film Festival

The 36th Thusis World Film Festival is just around the corner. As always, it features compelling films from around the world. In addition to films from current crisis regions such as Palestine, Ukraine, and Afghanistan, this year’s festival focuses on stories of flight and migration, as well as coming of age under difficult conditions.
Over the course of six days, the Raetia Cinema will screen 38 films from 32 countries and four continents. Without exception, these are films produced outside the U.S. mainstream that normally rarely make it into Swiss theaters. In addition, there will be five film discussions in which filmmakers will explain their works and their context to and with the audience.
The World Film Days also offer another opportunity to take a culinary journey. At the KinoBeiz in the “Schäfli” restaurant, dishes from around the world will be served. At the KinoBistro across from the Raetia cinema, there’s a bar serving snacks.
In the run-up to the festival, a small traveling cinema is also touring remote regions of Graubünden with a selected film. This year, the “Weltfilmtage on the Road” will screen the Lebanese film “A Sad and Beautiful World,” a moving Romeo and Juliet story set in Beirut.
