Zapporthütte SAC
The Zapporthütte, built in 1872 at the edge of the glacier, is located at 2,276 meters above sea level. The hut is staffed from late February through mid-May and from late June through mid-October. The rest of the time, it is open (with cooking facilities). Please note that the trail from Hinterrhein to the hut is a very challenging mountain hike (duration approx. 3.5 hours). Since the first part of the hike passes through the Swiss Army’s tank firing range, it is essential to follow the military firing notices; tel. +41 58 482 11 11. For further information and reservations, the hut warden, Daniela Zwyer, will be happy to assist you. See contact information.
