Pùnt da Suransuns

Narrow and straightforward, this bridge is part of the hiking trail network - for once not over the abyss of the Viamala, but directly over the Rhine, which rests here in a shimmering blue bay before plunging further through the gorge.
Four flat steel bands form a slightly curved framework for the Andeer granite paving slabs. Like the Traversiner footbridge and the Pùnts da tgavorgia, the Pùnt da Suransuns, which was opened in 1999, was also designed by Jürg Conzett. As wooden and stone bridges, Pùnt da Suransuns and Traversinersteg together also refer to the building traditions in Graubünden, to the wooden Walser houses of the north and to the stone houses of the Romanesque and Italian regions of the south. The busy national road bridge by Christian Menn (1967) forms a contrast to the Pùnt da Suransuns high above.
