First mentioned in 1322 as "Taxstein", the site not only offers impressive views, but also fascinating insights into the architecture of past centuries. Of particular interest is the partially preserved masonry in the opus spicatum style, a special technique in which stones were arranged in a diagonally offset pattern that resembles a spike pattern.
