SWISS dedicates an Airbus to the Viamala vacation region
Through a competition, the destination Viamala has won an aircraft christening with its name in the Swiss Hangar at Zurich Airport.

Aircraft christening
As part of its 20th anniversary celebrations, Swiss is naming 20 modern Airbus A220-100/300 aircraft after various Swiss tourist regions. To this end, Swiss launched a competition in cooperation with Switzerland Tourism last December and the three most outstanding entries each won an aircraft naming ceremony on site in the Swiss hangar.
With our application video, we are one of the lucky three winners. Marco Willa, Head of Regional Sales Switzerland at Swiss: "I am delighted that we were able to win the versatile Viamala tourist region as the godmother of one of our Airbus A220-100s. With its historic past, the beautiful Viamala region is a perfect choice and an ideal ambassador for the beauty of Switzerland."
The Airbus was christened on Monday, May 8, 2023 in the Swiss hangar at Zurich Airport by Gino Caviezel, ski racer and godfather of Viamala, in the presence of Patric Berg, Director of Viamala Tourism, and Marco Willa, Head of Regional Sales Switzerland at Swiss, as well as other guests.
The first flight took the "Viamala" from Zurich to Dresden on the same day. The guests on board were treated to a very special surprise: Each passenger was given a free entry to the impressive Viamala Gorge.
