50 years of the Pro Splügen Foundation

Ambros Eberle, former director of the Swiss Heritage Society, wrote the above sentences in his foreword to the Splügen Talerwerk in 1973. The "Pro Splügen" Foundation is a child of this Talerwerk, which has supported and promoted all efforts to preserve, maintain and carefully develop the historic townscape of Splügen for 50 years. CHF 100,000 from the proceeds of the Taler and a substantial amount donated by the business community formed the financial basis 50 years ago that enabled the foundation to begin its work. After 30 years, the finances were exhausted and an appeal for donations was able to replenish the foundation's capital to an impressive CHF 100,000. In 2023, the "Pro Splügen Foundation" will be 50 years old. The finances are again coming to an end. The Board of Trustees has set itself the following goals for 2023:

1. COMMUNICATION OF SUPPORT PROVIDED OVER THE LAST 20 YEARS
   Enclosed you will find a flyer documenting the Foundation's activities and key data and directing the reader to the Foundation's website, where the projects supported by the Foundation over the last 20 years are documented locally and pictorially.
2. FINANCES TO FR. 100,000
   The future of tourism in Splügen is being redefined. Investors are already drawing up plans for the redesign of accommodation and vacation facilities. The local population is in favor of these plans.

It is therefore all the more important that the "Pro Splügen Foundation" can continue to carry out its task of preserving and maintaining the historic townscape. To do this, the capital must be increased again.
