Opening reception for the photography exhibition "by & for Feldis"
Free admission
The exhibition opening will feature music (Balz Marti on piano and Michael Harr on violin) and dance (a tango performed by Michael Harr and Alexandra Mollet), accompanied by pastries and beverages from the Sterna kitchen. Esther Maag, owner of the Berghotel Sterna, is scheduled to give a brief introduction.
After half a century of enjoying Feldis, Balz Marti would like to give something back to the residents of Feldis and other Feldis enthusiasts this year in the form of an exhibition: Thanks to its exposed terrace location on the slopes of the Stätzerhorn range, Feldis offers photographers a unique combination of sweeping views, constantly changing (weather-related) scenery, and a rich diversity of flora and fauna all within a relatively small area. Over the years, this has resulted in a wealth of beautiful material, some of which is available as postcards at the Stizunetta, and Balz Marti now wishes to make a slightly broader selection of this work publicly accessible. He was born in Basel, works full-time as an occupational psychologist, and has additional training as a photographer from the CAP School of Photography in Zurich (www.cap-fotoschule.ch). His photographic work focuses mainly on portrait, nature, and “everyday photography,” in color and black-and-white.
This combination of different artistic elements (image, music, and dance) is also intended to send a message of togetherness and shared experience in a world where the law of the jungle and a mindset of competing against one another—or even asserting oneself at others’ expense—seem to be increasingly prevalent. Known for its sense of community and ability to bring people together in a wonderful setting, the Berghotel Sterna seemed to us to be the ideal place for this.
The exhibition will be open from July 11 to October 10 during the Berghotel Sterna’s regular hours.
