We have compiled the most important information for planning the viaSpluga tour below. If you have any further questions or tips, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Advance booking deadline
The package can be booked with us up to 3 working days (Mon-Sat) before arrival at the latest, provided rooms are still available. We recommend an early reservation.
Cancellation conditions
In the event of last-minute changes, rebookings or cancelations of the reservation, the costs incurred will be charged in accordance with the cancellation conditions.
Route
The viaSpluga is a mountain hiking trail. Surefootedness and a head for heights are required on some sections. Appropriate equipment suitable for the weather is strongly recommended. Insurance is the responsibility of the individual participants. The tours are not accompanied.
Stage times
Please note that the stage times given are approximate times without any refreshment breaks or sightseeing. Depending on your pace, the times may be exceeded. In any case, we recommend that you allow enough time for the individual stages, as there is plenty to see and marvel at along the way.
Signalization
The viaSpluga hiking trail is a white-red-white marked mountain hiking trail and is signposted throughout from Thusis to Chiavenna as regional hiking route no. 50.
The bike route runs mainly on white-red-white marked mountain hiking trails and is not signposted as an official bike route. Instead, it follows the signposting of the local villages along the route.
Border crossing Switzerland-Italy
A valid identity card or passport is required to cross the border.
Dogs
Dogs must be registered at the time of booking and are subject to a charge (from CHF 10.00/night). Please note that not all hotels accept dogs. Dogs must be muzzled on public transport in Italy.
Some short passages lead over gratings. We recommend that you bring dog shoes.
Wellness
Let yourself be pampered after a busy day. How about a soothing massage?

Return journey
The return trip from Chiavenna via the Splügen Pass to Thusis is already included in the guest card Via Mia Pass under “Viamala Mobil” and does not need to be booked separately.
The return trip from Thusis via public transportation is included. From there, you can travel comfortably and free of charge on public transportation throughout Switzerland back home.
If you’re transporting a bike, a reservation is required when purchasing your ticket, and you’ll need to cover the costs yourself. We recommend the return trip via St. Moritz and the Engadin on the PostBus and the Rhaetian Railway. Transport via the Splügen Pass cannot be guaranteed.
