Architecture in Splügen

analog and digital

Splügen is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful villages in the Grisons region, which is rich in architectural heritage. Its high-quality architecture plays a key role in the village’s unique charm. The Splügen Architecture Tour, published in July 2026, is dedicated to this architecture. Through a representative selection of 20 buildings, it introduces readers to the village’s fascinating history and its diverse architectural heritage.

“Splügen, with its distinctive silhouette of houses, leaves a lasting impression even on the hurried traveler. If only because, in this inner-Alpine setting, one does not readily expect to find a settlement with such architectural character.”

Ambros Eberle, Swiss Heritage Society, 1973

The publication is available for CHF 15 at the Viamala Visitor Information Center in Splügen or in the online store.

On behalf of Graubünden Cultura, Pascal Werner and Johannes Meier turned the booklet into a digital architectural tour. The narration is provided by Rebecca Indermaur, and the images are also by Guido Baselgia.

The tour is available on the Viamala Tourism website. In the photo gallery, an audio file containing information about each building is linked to every photograph. The tour lasts about 75 minutes, not including the time spent at each building.
