Vernissage for the ceramic painting exhibition "Sternengarten oder Blumenhimmel"

Daniela Loehler Zweifel was born in Basel and has lived in Thusis with her husband since 2013.

Daniela Loehler Zweifel has explored a wide variety of materials in her craft work. She used to work more three-dimensionally, but has been concentrating on watercolors for a few years now. She shows a mixture of both in her millefiori ceramic paintings. Murano glass and millefiori murrine melt on a ceramic plate to form a starry garden or is it a flowery sky?

A love of ceramics, traditional millefiori and watercolor led to the creation of different, colourful, 30 x 30 cm ceramic pictures 15 years ago. Everything flows, the brittle glass flows over the ceramic plate like watercolor paint. The plates are fired together with the millefiori in the kiln, glazed and then fired again. The skill here is to maintain exactly the right temperature, the millefiori should flow but not melt. 

The exhibition will be open from November 21, 2025 to January 17, 2026 on Friday from 09.30 - 12.00 and from 14.30 - 18.00 and on Saturday from 09.30 - 12.00.
