The Thusis World Film Festival has been taking place every year at the end of October and beginning of November for over 30 years. Around 40 films from all over the world are usually presented over 6 days. The decisive factor for organizing a film festival at the foot of the Alps in 1991 was the "Festival of International Solidarity", which took place as part of the 700th anniversary celebrations of the Swiss Confederation.
Thanks to lively public interest and a high-quality program, this small but excellent film festival has developed into an insider tip over the years. The Thusis World Film Festival aims to promote and showcase filmmaking outside of mainstream cinema. Talks with invited filmmakers provide interesting insights into the making of the films. School screenings and the World Film Days On the Road bring the films closer to schoolchildren and communities in the region.
