Design on the Rhine: Casca da Culors in Zillis

The several-metre-long length of fabric hangs like a colorful waterfall in front of the angular concrete of the Viamala Gorge visitor center. It takes up the striking topography of the gorge - its verticality, colorfulness and movement - and translates it into a textile installation. Created with a squeegee and paint, the panels are reminiscent of layers of rock that have been shaped by water over thousands of years. The soft, permeable fabric stands in exciting contrast to the raw concrete, creating a dialog between nature and architecture, material and emotion.
Claudia Caviezel is a Swiss textile designer with Grisons roots who has been combining traditional textile techniques with digital processes for 20 years. Her versatile work includes interior objects, haute couture and large-scale installations in public spaces.
The event is part of Design am Rhein, which will take place from June 26 to July 13, 2025 along the Anterior and Posterior Rhine to Chur. More information can be found at www.designamrhein.ch
