Mazzarella

True stories from four generations
sung and told by Irene Mazza
Mazzarella is a full-length stage program that combines songwriting and storytelling. Based on a personal family story, it sheds light on the omnipresent topic of migration in a poetic way. It begins with labor migration in southern Italy in the 19th century, runs through the two world wars in the 20th century and ends up somewhere in the crisis-ridden Congolese jungle in the 21st century. A delightful solo piece that moves and touches. Narrated in Swiss German, sung in four languages, accompanied by guitar and accordion.
